That's. What. You. Get.

The U.S. House of Representatives just rejected Bush's bailout plan, 228 to 205. The revolt was led largely by members of the President's own party.

That's what you get when you elect Republicans on the false pretense that they're going to cut spending from big government and cut taxes for the little guy.

What they end up doing is driving up spending for military excursions and corporate tax breaks, cutting any kind of regulations that would restrict growth for the sake of our overall economic safety, and then borrowing money from China to finance it all.

Bill Clinton may have been a whore, but at least when he left office this country was solvent.

Bush, on the other hand, reminds me of a frat boy who spent his allowance on beer and then begs his Daddy for more.

Now the Republicans who promised their constituents a legacy of slim, efficient government are wetting their pants.

Why Obama hasn't condensed his argument down to this — calling out the Republicans for their political hypocrisy, this Big Lie — is beyond me.

I think you'd quickly realize my idea of Republican is modeled after President Reagan. So, you're absolutely right: I do not recognize this party by its actions, nor like them. Obama appears to me to be what the country needs once again: a man who truly and honestly leads.

Go Dan! Socializing risk and privatizing gain is incredible hypocrisy! It is unsustainable and cannot continue.

I pray by all that I consider holy, that this bailout does not pass.

To give $700 Billion (a number they pulled out of their ass) to a bunch of thieves who will continue to get rich from their current golden parachute clauses while the rest of the country goes belly-up is unconscionable!

The independent economists (not affiliated with any political group or brokerage house) will tell you that some banks are going to fail anyway and the actual cost to the taxpayers will be in the trillions. Bush wants to add $750 Billion on to that to help out his friends. I say let the chips fall where they may. This country survived a Great Depression before (forget this recession nonsense), we can do it again.

I am not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but to me it seems like this is God's way of smacking us spoiled, greedy Americans on the ass and sending us to our rooms without supper. Maybe then we can appreciate the things that REALLY matter instead of being so materialistic.
